When we supported VV Brown at Club NME KOKO the other day we were asked by NME.com to make a video blog about our experience. It’s online today…

“We like My Tiger My Timing at NME. The New Cross electro types gave us a free track on the Daily Download a while back, so when we heard they were supporting VV Brown at Club NME KOKO in London we thought we’d get them to report back from the night.

This is their homemade video of the night. If you ever wondered what it’s like behind the scenes at London’s best indie night, and what it feels like to walk out onto that legendary stage, this will reveal all.”

They say:

“Proof once again that the fabled New Cross scene is thriving (hey – one band every two years [Bloc Party, Art Brut, Klaxons] counts OK?), let us introduce 2009’s brightest hopes from the creative hub and aesthetic bumhole of London: My Tiger My Timing.

Peddling a vaguely tribal electro like a south London Gang Gang Dance, MTMT have been making friends in all the right places. NYPC produced their debut ‘This Is Not The Fire’, Joe Hot Chip is doing the album, and they’re support at Filthy Dukes’ single launch soon (among a handful of dates across the country – details on MySpace).

Plus they’ve dived right in to the usual part-swapping remix orgy, having had their debut redone by Django Django and Tronik Youth and even turned dubstep by Example DJ and Chase & Status collaborator Sam Wire (in a version that admittedly stretches the term to breaking point). This mix is done by the band themselves.”

“…I went to see Joe Hot Chip’s first post-Little Boots production project, My Tiger My Timing. They’re far from shit and have that same penchant for shuffling glockenspiel that Joe’s boys have made an artform, but pegged to stark, pining girly tunes.” – NME Radar, Jaimie’s Roundup

“…a breathtakingly chic brother-sister combo…crazy synth glocken-spiel-ly noises and kick-ass guitar spins the momentum enough to propel Anna Vincent’s sultry vocals into the stratosphere. Classic. Perfect. Pop.” – Artrocker

“…’This Is Not The Fire’ produced by Andy Spence of New Young Pony Club, is confident enough to abandon disco-punk strictures in favour of something more buoyantly tropical, whilst still packing a chorus that CSS would kill for. Very cute.” – Uncut

“My Tiger My Timing stomp all over the far more seasoned competition……My Tiger My Timing slowly mess with expectations, tinkering with the trappings of 21st century post-punk and altering bits of their sound here and there with such a deft hand that it’s barely noticeable. But it makes all the difference.” – Drowned In Sound

“With lyrics hinting at a disintegrating relationship, the male/female vocals give double meaning to the term ‘dual’ and take this electro-pop gem to an appropriately intense crescendo…coolly detached pop music that expertly blends guitar and synth…easily side-stepping any comparisons with their contemporaries with a staccato delivery that is all their own. This tiger has hit the ground running.” – UK Music Jobs

“…save you from going to overpriced hipster clubs and dancing listlessly to My Tiger My Timing’s debut single ‘This Is Not The Fire’ (Silver Music Machine) . It’s hypnotic clatterpop that packs all the right moves, but probably couldn’t dance to save its life.” – Bearded Magazine

“Forgive that their video is Shirley Manson gone to art school, for they know not what they do. And it was probably quite cheap. They are a new band, after all. In spite of this being oddly laid-back and understated, considering it meant to be an upbeat pop-rock kind of song, it is our favourite one of the week. As Sir Thomas More said of Catherine of Aragon, “[she] thrilled the hearts of everyone.” Ie this is obvs the best.” – The Lipster

“…First up is London’s My Tiger My Timing. I was sent this remix by Django Django of one of their tracks off their forthcoming single which is out on April 6th. It’s one of the catchiest things I’ve heard in a while, so I went to their MySpace page and checked out the original which is even more catchy. I didn’t think that was possible.” – The Sound Of Indie

“…The band is somewhat unique in that they are a live dance band and not an electronic creation…If you are looking for something that will make you move and shake and dance you troubles away, My Tiger My Timing has a beat the will make forget the meaning of the phrase “economic downturn”.” – What To Wear During An Orange Alert

“…Hot new music, which layers vocals within dark, often moody, yet extremely danceable three and a half minute pop songs…The first listen you won’t even know you’ve taken it all in, but later you’ll be itching for a repeat performance.” – Hot New Music Review
